Starting a Community of Practice
What is a community of practice?
Create a DRAFT Community Charter.
Invite four colleagues or allow our Membership Committee to assist you in soliciting volunteers (ideally community participants should be able to influence the charter).
Appoint a Spokesperson (sitting directors of ODLA are not allowed to serve in this capacity).
Submit the charter to the Director for Membership.
It should take less than 10 business days to receive an answer on whether ODLA will endorse the charter.
Upon endorsement, a subgroup will be created within the ODLA LinkedIn Group. Training will be coordinated with the Director of Support to assist you in understanding LinkedIn groups and settings.
The Community Charter will be placed on this website.
Promotional activities will begin to drive additional membership to your community.
Be conscious of your deliverables.
Unproductive communities will be dissolved annually by vote of ODLA membership.
Prior to a vote, community spokespersons will have the opportunity to report out their activities and advocate for retention.
